Colbert Report Taping, OHMAHGAWD (T.V.C.)

Taken from roflrazzi

So yesterday, like I did in January, I saw a taping of a popular comedy show.  And this time, it was The Colbert Report.  It was a little more disorganized than The Daily Show, but it was fun nonetheless.

A lot of it mimicked the other taping, such as having the opening comedy come out.  And he was just the king of awkward.  I mean, he was funny, really funny.  But the jokes he made were a little more R-rated.  Such as when he turns to a kid and said "say HA as if you injected your penis with heroin...oh shit that's your mother next to you, isn't it?"  Many moments like that occurred.

After many moments of banter, Jersey jokes, and getting pumped for the show, Stephen Colbert came out...out of character!  He's actually not too different, except he doesn't come off as crazy.  He talked about the dynamics between his family and how he keeps a lot of his show persona secret from his younger children so that they don't get confused between their dad and the guy on television.

And then the show started.  And since it aired already last night, it's fine to talk about it.  During one of the parts, he messed up and his face looked like he was begging the camera to fix it.  Which, it did.  Nonetheless, it was great to see such a candid moment.

Jon Stewart Taping, OH MAH GAWD (T.V.C.)

Taken from it'scompromisethatmovesusalong
So, I haven't done a T.V.C. in forever, because there hasn't been much to rant about in terms of television.  Actually, I might dedicate an entry on the atrocity that is Teen Mom, don't care which season, it's atrocious.

But, this is a happy entry!  I went with the Black&White Cookie to the taping today of The Daily Show.  Sure, there was a lot of down time between getting tickets and actually seeing the show, but it was a great way to spend time with friends.

So first, this comedian came on and asked a bunch of audience members about them from each of the audience sections, and I have to give credit to any woman who trusts her husband enough to let him out to a strip club on his birthday.

And the he came out: Jon Stewart.  With lighting and makeup, he is actually pretty attractive.  And the guy is SO charismatic.  People asked him questions which he either answered directly or made a joke.  One guy asked him about Julian Assange...I feel like if the Daily Show knew where he was to get him on for an interview, so would the US government.  I mean, I should hope so.  Anyway, Douglass's face when Jon Stewart came on was PRICELESS.  I'm pretty sure this was better than Christmas for him.

So then the show commenced and it was interesting to see all the camera work that goes into the program.  What was even more was watching Jon Stewart on an HD television at the same time as watching him talk live.  Tonight's episode is going to be good; I won't spoil it.  I'm just going to say it ran a little over because of an intense debate that I will let the people who read this form their own opinions.

But overall, it was a very, very good time.  And the best part?  The tickets were free and I greatly thank Hatboy for sending me the link to the reservations.

Tool Academy Finale (T.V.C.)

So they picked Jacob. I now saved you watching an hour (or two if you want to) of the finale. I don't really know what to say. I wasn't rooting for him the entire time. Honestly, I wanted Jennavecia to win. Not because I'm a chick and she's a chick--that's just stupid. She kind of backfired on herself towards the end though and it might have been a bit of a ploy by Dayna and Angelo to get them off. Kyle seriously rocked.

My favorite moment? Kyle's makeover. Right, that wasn't aired on the second to last episode, but it's readily available online. Seriously, I've never seen a man so comfy in his masculinity. Actually...I got one of my friends to wear a bikini once. Yes, he was male. No, he was (and still isn't!) gay or transgendered.

Favorite screen shot? Dayna's face when Jacob kicked over the TV. I didn't think the oval-shaped, shocked duck face was possible in real life. I guess it is.

Favorite tool? Jordan. There's a difference between favorite tool and person I wanted to win. Jordan...I don't know if he really cared, but his commentary about Jennavecia in relation to the tools and other topics was just great. Plus, he had awesome hair and was really funny. So was Kevin though. Besides cheating on his wife, he didn't really have that flamboyant tool personality everyone else seemed to have. Oh well.

I hope Jennavecia, after watching her blow up, goes to Charm School. That would be incredible. Can't wait for Tool Academy 4!

The Price of Beauty (T.V.C.)

Though technically a reality TV show because it is on vh1, I find it more of a documentary. It is kind of difficult to take seriously because of the aforementioned facts and Jessica Simpson being the host. But the documentary sort of aspect of it is quite fascinating.

Jessica Simpson goes on a world tour in search of what other cultures find beautiful. Let us do a quick brainstorm of American beauty ideals: slim build, ample breasts and butt, good hair, etc. etc. At least that is what I have noticed. In other countries, they have other ideals.

Her first stop is Thailand, where being pale is gorgeous. Here it seems to be more popular to be tanned. There is a tribe in the Northern region of the country who thinks that long necks are pretty. But what is interesting is that they also talk about the dangers of trying to fit the ideal. One woman wound up dangerously dying her skin, experiencing vitiligo-like symptoms.

I am looking forward for the next episode, which is about France.

Tool Academy 303 (T.V.C.)

Wow...major editing fail. I just want to say, I had no idea what was going on this episode, until after the commercials when they took time to explain what just happened.

But hot damn, tempers were FLYING. I don't think people on this show have been this angry yet. Daniel and Lesley need to chill out. Sure, he had a fit of jealousy, but she launched at him like a spider monkey. I don't think it's ever justified for a girl to leap at her guy like that. And he dumped her. If she acted out like that every time they argued, I can see why. Even though he is a bit childish.

I was a bit disappointed that Jacob didn't get eliminated. He doesn't do anything. Neither does his girlfriend. It's just annoying how quick he is to jump at other people.

I felt the worst for Kourtney. I can totally relate to her issues. I thought it was totally...disrespectful for that one woman to call her a man with a vagina. That was rude on so many levels. I am not saying this just because she is a lesbian and I am justifying her behavior, but that was a really low blow.

Next week's episode is going to be bizarre. Tools having fun; girls arguing and throwing drinks at each other. What. The...?

Tool Academy 301 (T.V.C.)

This show is golden. Now that they've added Toolettes and a gay couple, it's even better. Except I cannot take it seriously because of Kyle. He's such a sweetie but there is that double standard of him being a total doormat for staying with Jennavecia. Here's a photo of her:I actually feel kind of bad that she went from "hot" to a "slut" so quickly. Just because she's the Toolette. Even though the guys are the same way.

Two guys pissed me off royally: Chasyn and Neander-Tool (I didn't bother memorizing his name because the nickname is hilarious). Chasyn's face bothered me and his attitude. He genuinely didn't seem to care and wussed out so badly. It was kind of funny but more on the "OMG GO AWAY" side. And Neander-Tool is passive too and it was really bad when he started a fight in the middle of therapy. I love Trina, she has a good way of handling stuff. Okay, not really. Security got involved. But she kept a professional demeanor, which was remarkable. Here are pictures of the 2 tools mentioned above:
By the way, Neander-tool definitely wants Jennavecia, in my opinion. But he's probably scared of something blowing between Kyle and Neander-tool's girlfriend. Anyway, at first I couldn't stand Kourtney because of her attitude towards women. But then I realized, she is a tough position: she is a lesbian Tool. That's so different from the other couples, so it seems worse, but in reality, she's as bad as the guys. Not worse just because she's a lesbian. She's actually kind of pretty...in her own way. Like in this pic, she looks pretty cute:
Well that's all I had to say about episode one. The rest of this season should be INCREDIBLE!

Grammys 2010 (T.V.C.)

So Lady Gaga's entrance...what the hell was going on? She falls into a vat...gets fake set on fire and then is performing live with Elton John. Hell of a win, Gaga, hell of a win. She's such a great performer. I loved her pinky spiral dress. It was AWESOME.

Steven Colbert is the coolest white guy ever. It was cute when he addressed his daughter and told her to "stay away from Katy Perry." That's the best. And Lady Gaga is definitely not dating Elton John. And the Pink Eyed Green Peas. And yeah, why wasn't Susan Boyle there? And he used an iPad, I'm sorry, iTampon. Yes, Steven Colbert is cooler than Jay-Z.

Why did "Single Ladies" win a Grammy for best song? No doubt Beyonce is talented. But...I just really don't like that song.

Crazy fan girl update: I am seeing Green Day's American Idiot on Broadway. Their rendition of "21 Guns" is amazing. Billie Joe performed better this time than at the VMAs. I cannot wait to see it. It will be the best musical ever. Nah, it's hard to beat The Lion King. Loved the collective rock jump at the end.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't surprised by the fact that Taylor Swift won a Grammy for country.

Beyonce has a nice voice but I don't like the song. This dress suits her better than that unitard. And I've never heard of the Zac Brown band. MGMT should've gotten that. I also liked Silversun Pickups, but they aren't really a "new" artist. By the way, Pink is an awesome performer as well.

"Imma Bee" is so nonsensical. Almost as bad as the "Panda panda panda" song. Fergie actually looks really pretty this time. I really like the song "I Gotta Feeling." Even though it's super nostalgic and I can't handle nostalgia, the beat and tune is awesome.

I'm taking a break for Tough Love 2 Finale. I know I'm lame. But yeah. I hope the rest of the Grammys are awesome =D

VMAs (T.V.C.)

So the dance tribute to Michael Jackson was fun to watch. Because Michael Jackson...even though he touched children (allegedly), his music is still awesome. Katy Perry ruining "We Will Rock You"? Not so much. Not at ALL.

But Russell Brand is so funny. I don't know if it's because he's British or what. Commentary on his magic wand tucked in his pants and health care and the clarification on the word "fanny." And Lady GaGa giving him boners. Her outfit was beyond bizarre, by the way. But Shakira's was gorgeous.

And Taylor Swift got best female performer video or something like that. It has a really good, cute plot and song attached to it. But why does Kanye need to be a jerk? Taylor Swift DID NOT deserve that. I would've been about to cry too.

And of course, Green Day wins best rock video. Because they are Green Day. I'm slightly biased because they have been my favorite band since 8th grade. Taylor Swift wins because she performed in the subway. I can't think of many famous people who would do that. I know Metro Station did it, but they're kind of lame now.

Um 3oh!3 live...I'd see them anyway. Because I love them. Lady Gaga's entrance was genius. She's a great performer. I don't care what anyone has to say about that either. No one can doubt: the woman has talent. Bleeding on stage was slightly genius...although kind of weird at the same time. Ok, REALLY weird. At all times.

Britney won best pop video with "Womanizer." It's a great, catchy song and not annoying, unlike "Single Ladies." The mere mention of the song title gets it stuck in my head. But Green Day performed "East Jesus Nowhere," which I have a feeling will be the next single/ music video. They are crazy good live and I get a rush whenever I see them perform. Beyonce's "Single Ladies" should be forbidden off the air. It's probably the greatest brain crack ever...for the reason mentioning above.

T.I. won best male video...I have nothing to say about that. Haha, shocker, I know. And then Muse performed. I love them almost as much as Green Day. Their new album will be amazing. I can feel it. Well, I've heard most of it, but that's besides the point. Anyway, Eminem won best hip-hop video. I like "We Made You"--pokes good fun at all my favorite reality TV shows, especially rock of love. Because it was the best.

Lady GaGa took home best new artist and P!nk is performing several feet above the stage with a sticker covering her nipple. The acrobatics is quite amazing. I mean, it is about being high and the melody is befitting of the performance. And I doubt most people can sing hanging upside down.

I think I'm done. I'm tired, but this was a good awards show.

The Vampire Diaries Ep 1 (T.V.C.)

So, due to all this vampire pop culture stuff strolling around (Twilight, True Blood, etc.), I decided to check out this series. From the previews, it didn't seem as ridiculous as Twilight, and not as pornographic as True Blood.

Now, I have read the first book of Twilight and did not find it exciting at all. But this, I feel, seems grounded in more real emotions. The Elena's parents died in a tragic accident, so it's understandable that she keeps a diary and to herself. The guy seems more real...not a sparkly perfect pale guy who skulks around rooms at night. Stefan, the vampire, has some real conflict going on, unlike Edward. Plus, there seem to be more high school experiences: class, drinking parties, chilling at bars and stuff. This mimics True Blood more, since one of the key settings is the bar where Sookie works. The soundtrack is fantastic. It is very upbeat and fits the mood and definitely teen friendly.

In terms of conflict, it goes between friends and family, which is refreshing since it lessens the Twilight-ness feel of the show. I am a sucker for family conflict in movies and stuff. If that's not enough motivation to check it out, Stefan's brother is really hot.

I actually like this series. Although, you never know can come next in terms of series quality.

Rating for the first episode: 7/10

Tool Academy 202 (T.V.C.)

I don't think girls should hit guys. If they do, they deserve a smack back. That's a double standard that shouldn't be accepted. Like, sure it's lame that a girl does one guy and she's a whore and guy does ten girls and he's a hero, but NO ONE should have to go through physical abuse like that.

I do think mild flirting is okay. Like if you think a girl has a cute look, you can compliment her as long as I get compliments too. I get attention too. I dislike double standards, obviously. But these couples need to start talking more or the girl should stop being paranoid, like the chick whose boyfriend collects numbers. If he's never cheated and just has the numbers and does nothing with them, it should not be an issue. If One Guy got a few chicks' numbers and I was still the main girl in his life that he dreams about at night and thinks about during the day, I'm okay. As long as there's not physical contact other than a hug.

Oh and one more thing: I WANT TO DO A CHEERLEADING STORY WITH ONE GUY =D

Police Women of Broward County (Commentary)

Holy shit, that show is intense. Well, not really. The situations the people they arrest get into. All of them are druggies. ALL OF THEM. It's crazy. And the neighborhood they work and raise kids in is really sketchy.

But I give them credit. I would not be able deal with those people, live in that area, or be a cop. Hence why I'm sticking to pharmacy and interior design.

Daisy of Love (Commentary)

So I've been following Daisy of Love on VH1 (yes, a straight-A student who watches too much VH1, it's possible). It was fun, but the ending was so disappointing and predictable: of course she went with the douchey rock star that bailed on her once. But I guess that's how girls are. When shown a pair of guys, she goes with the douche instead of the nice guy.

I miss my nice guy.
